FALASARNA

Falasarna is a perfect shallow sandy beach with crystal clear waters. On the southern part it is often deserted, with no sunbeds or parasols. The middle part of the beach is a popular place for paddle-ball, beach volleyball, kiting, windsurfing and paragliding. There are sunbeds parasols, and a number of small beach bars. The best area for young children is a small peninsula furthest north which is protected from northerly winds. Falasarna is perfect for snorkelling where you’ll see a multitude of colorful small fish around the reefs. The area is occasionally exposed to strong winds from both the west and northwest. In Greece, the Beaufort system is used as wind unit. Force 5 or more westerly winds result in large and dangerous waves so check the weather forecast before you decide to visit! Falassarna has 5-6 restaurants, some beach bars, and a couple of cafés along the beach and above the beach. All restaurants have good food made from local produce. Restaurant Kyma makes some of the best stuffed zucchini flowers I’ve ever tasted and a wonderful “Cretan salad”. MAP
