Lovely, newly renovated house on the water/on the beach, located in the Area of Marathi, on the south coast of the Akrotiri peninsula of Chania. This amazing property consists of two spacious independent studio apartments for rent separately or together. You can’t get any closer to the water!
This amazing property consists of two spacious independent studio apartments and this description is for Unit 1.
Unit 1 is located on the ground floor, and consists of one bedroom with a king size double bed 180×200, an alcove which includes a sofa bed size 140×200, a kitchenette, a bathroom with shower, and a second entrance door. This unit has a huge covered terrace, embracing the front, side, and part of the back of the house. The long concrete dining table is one of the original elements the owners chose to keep during the renovation.
Unit 1 also has exclusive use of a large lawn and garden, and a barbeque on the north side of the house. From the covered terrace area there are two small gates leading to the sea and the beach. An outdoor shower for common use between the two units is located on the south side of the house, right above the sea.

Marathi is a lovely shallow sandy beach located in a well-protected bay within Souda bay. It is known for its beautiful clean water and is continuously awarded the “Blue Flag”. The beach is divided by a pier on which the west side accommodates fishing boats. On this stretch of the beach there are two restaurants and three cafées, all serving very good food. The beach is serviced with sunbeds and parasols, as is the beach on the east side of the pier.
At the far end of the beach nearest Casa Marathi is an excellent fish tavern, Rokos Kantina , sourcing locally caught fish and other delicious seafood. The beach of Marathi also offers some water-sports activities, as well as a boat rental service by notosmare.com. The coast along the property and beyond offers excellent snorkelling, safe swimming in almost all wind conditions, and is generally regarded as one of the most child friendly beaches this side of Chania.
Nearby you will find gorgeous beaches, historic sites, pleasant small towns with cosy taverns and incomparable views of the mountains and the sea. And all of this is just a short ten-minute drive from the airport.

Excellent holiday. Often when holidaying in a villa you look down the hill at the prefect villa you wished you had booked in the same location. With casa Marathi you don't need to bother as you're in that perfect villa. It's on the beach, and in a great location. friendly taverna literally 2 minutes walk away. Other tavernas (about 4 more) about 5 minutes away, but we preferred our local the ROKOS. The check in was stress free, the owners extremely sociable and helpful. Sea crystal clear and warm. with a great veranda to chill out and watch life unfold. the villa is clean and comfortable and had all the facilities we required. cleaned twice so no problem. What more do you want on a holiday! All in all highly recommended. Thanks Chrysa.

Marvellous stay at Casa Marathi. A most enjoyable and relaxing stay in Marathi. The booking agent, Alexendra, very helpful and gave us of useful information on, shopping...Taverna's...travel...other locations nearby. The owners, couldn't be more helpful and also owned the local Taverna, which we visited on numerous occasions!

We rented the place for a week and simply enjoyed every minute. lying on the veranda, swimming in the sea just a few steps away and enjoying good food in the restaurant Rokos around the corner ... what more could you want from life. Can highly recommend the place!

We visited this beach in June whilst staying on the other side of Souda Bay, and on spotting this house, right on the beach, decided to visit for an anniversary celebration. The beaches and tavernas are excellent and the outside space of the property are absolutely fantastic, whilst inside is compact but has everything you need. Owner/contact on hand if needed otherwise you are left in peace to enjoy your stay at this amazing property. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants a relaxing beach holiday!

Magnifique maison, merveilleusement bien située près de la plage. L’appartement est petit mais très confortable, avec une terrasse exceptionnelle. Les petits déjeuner face à la mer valent a eux seuls le déplacement. Il y a de nombreuses activités et restaurants sympa à proximité. It’s a lovely apartment with everything one needs. Even with a 1 1/2 year old we felt very comfortable and the sandy beach was the best play ground… The couple have been perfect hosts and their restaurant offered delicious food and friendliness all over. We loved it!!!!!!!

What a fantastic place to start our holiday. Amazing location, with views of the ocean from every turn. Really well equipped little house, with comfortable beds and really stylish, totally private garden with soft lawn to lay on, private ocean access and beach shower. Swim to lunch. We are really well at Rokos where Nikos welcomed us every day and looked after us. We landed at Chania at 10am and we’re swimming in the sea by 10.40! But feels like you could be anywhere, it’s so secluded and quiet. Nets on all the windows meant we could sleep with all the windows open at ease with the sea breeze blowing through. Breakfast on the balcony where you can watch the sunrise with uninterrupted views. Just be prepared if you are staying, the mini markets are up the hill in Sternes so don’t forget to stop for supplies before you drive down the mountain. We hired bikes, which was fun, but a bit too hot for family riding. If you’re hard core and can endure the hills, Lion Rentals drop off road bikes to the house for you for around 25 euro a day. A really really special start to our annual trip to Crete. Am booking for next year. Many thanks Alexandra!!

Une maisonnette d'exception avec une ambiance de calme et de sérénité pourtant à proximité immediate de la plage et d'un bar restaurant très sympa. Dans la maisonnette, dans le jardin et sur sa fabuleuse terrace tout est pensé pour ajouter à la superbe du lieu. La mer peu profonde et limpide est parfaite pour les bébés. Akrotiri a également de belles surprises à offrir (agia triada, moni katholiko, seitan limania, ...). De plus c'est un excellent point de chute pour visiter chania, balos, elafonisi, et toute la moitié ouest de la crête. Parfait pour un couple ou un couple avec un enfant. Au delà c'est un peu petit mais ça reste une superbe maisonnette. Et les personnes très sympathiques !

The pictures for Unit 1 are 100 % accurate. The place it’s appropriate for a family of four. The beach its only 5 steps down from your outdoor seating area which it’s a rare find specially with the amenities provided at this location. The outdoor seating area it’s a great place to have your meals after a long day at the beach; however, there several restaurants within walking distance if you prefer to eat out. (I liked Roko’s as they had great tasting food and reasonable prices). There is a mini market which is open seven days within 15 driving minutes from the Studio where you can get just about anything you need. Additionally, there are many beaches around this area if you want to explore more than one beach like we did and old town Chania its only 27 driving minutes away. The best part its the tranquility that this property offers, If you want to have some relaxing time with a beach front view, then this property perfect for you. Thanks Alexandra and Chrysa for your hospitality. My family and I had a fantastic experience. Chrysa and Gianni were also very attentive and the food at Roko’s was out of this world in taste.

A spectacular house and location. We had a very enjoyable stay at Alexandra's place with our 2 year old daughter. The house itself is charming, beautifully presented and comes with everything you need. Marathi beach itself is calm, sheltered and perfect for children, with a lovely beach-side taverna within easy reach. The owners were helpful but allowed us space. Highly recommended - a great place to relax.

A perfect beach vacation house! The apartment was lovely! It was very clean and fresh and simply and tastefully decorated. It had all the amenities,- kitchen was stocked well with nice quality pots, pans plates etc. linens were nice and fresh. There were several tavernas and restaurants to sample down the beach which was fun and convenient. The situation of the house directly on the water was absolutely fantastic! The lovely sea breeze blew through the windows. The veranda with the hammock was a joy to relax on, and the view of the water and the beach right at our doorstep was a constant amazement! We will never forget those magical morning swims!

We had a fantastic holiday in the beach cottage. It is a wonderful place to stay, the local people are are amazing, nothing is too much trouble . We have already rebooked and can’t wait to go back. 10/10.
