Lovely, newly renovated house on the water/on the beach, located in the Area of Marathi, on the south coast of the Akrotiri peninsula of Chania. This amazing property consists of two spacious independent studio apartments for rent separately or together. You can’t get any closer to the water!
This amazing property consists of two spacious independent studio apartments and this description is for Unit 2.
Unit 2 is located on the second floor, and consists of a spacious, airy bedroom (high ceiling) with a king size double bed 180×200, two fold-away pouff-beds size 80×200, a kitchenette, a bathroom with shower, and a sunscreen covered balcony with a dining table and chairs.
Unit 2 has exclusive use of the lawn on the south side of the house, as well as part of the terrace at the back of the house. An outdoor shower for common use between the two units is located on the south side of the house, right above the sea.

Marathi is a lovely shallow sandy beach located in a well-protected bay within Souda bay. It is known for its beautiful clean water and is continuously awarded the “Blue Flag”. The beach is divided by a pier on which the west side accommodates fishing boats. On this stretch of the beach there are two restaurants and three cafees, all serving very good food. The beach is serviced with sunbeds and parasols, as is the beach on the east side of the pier.
At the far end of the beach nearest Casa Marathi is an excellent fish tavern, Rokos Kantina , sourcing locally caught fish and other delicious seafood. The beach of Marathi also offers some water-sports activities, as well as a boat rental service by notosmare.com. The coast along the property and beyond offers excellent snorkelling, safe swimming in almost all wind conditions, and is generally regarded as one of the most child friendly beaches this side of Chania.
Nearby you will find gorgeous beaches, historic sites, pleasant small towns with cozy taverns and incomparable views of the mountains and the sea. And all of this is just a short fifteen-minute drive from the airport.

Simply the best! We loved every minute of our holiday at Casa Marathi beach house. Luck enough to experience 3 days in unit1 and 7 days in unit 2. Honestly, both are amazing and anyone lucky enough to come here will have an incredible holiday. That said, we did prefer the feel of unit 2 and when we come back next year, it will be to unit 2. The property is literally 10 minutes from the airport (25), you will be met by Chrysa and her husband Giannis in their taverna a stones- throw from the property. I can’t over praise Chrysa and Giannis- they are both amazing people- nothing too much trouble and so generous. Rokos, the taverna is literally by the beach and serves fantastic food. We ate here every day and enjoyed every occasion. Alexandra also deserves a mention and thanks- she went out of her way to secure the booking for us and communication prior to our trip was excellent. She also made the effort to visit us during our stay which was really appreciated. Overall a really 1st class experience. Probably the best holiday we’ve ever had. Highly recommend. We’re definitely going to be back next year!

We stayed in Casa Marathi Beach House Unit 2 for 8 days in September 2021. We booked through Alexandra who recommended the apartment. There was no problem with booking, confirmation or payment. Details were clearly and timely communicated and perfectly organized by Alexandra. The unit has a bedroom/living room, kitchen (with everything you need), a nice bathroom, a balcony (beautiful view), Wi-Fi, aircon, safe, direct access to the beach, an outdoor private shower, a private garden (with sunbeds and parasol), and a private parking space outside. When we arrived, we found that the apartment was ready and spotless, so we immediately settled in and relaxed. We really enjoyed the direct access to the beach, the view from the balcony and the private garden. The restaurants at Marathi are very nice and we had lunch and dinner at the different restaurants quite a few times. There is a 5 minute drive to the nearest market. The Marathi beach is popular and during the day its lively, during the evening and night is calm and quiet. Besides the restaurants, Marathi beach offers kayak and paddleboard rental, boat rental and sunbeds. This was a perfect place for us, and we have already called Alexandra and booked Casa Marathi again for this summer.

Everything was great! The location of the house can't be better. You have seaview from everywhere, even out of your shower. Communication was really easy and fast. Everything was clean and much better than on the pictures. We travelled with our 3 months old baby. It couldn't have been more relaxing.

Alexandra’s house was situated in an idyllic position at the end of a quite little bay with beautiful clear water and a few tavernas . Inside all is sleek and modern with a fresh blue and white theme . The outside areas - the little veranda overlooking the bay and an amazingly green and private garden with sun loungers really made our stay

What a fantastic place to start our holiday. Amazing location, with views of the ocean from every turn. Really well equipped little house, with comfortable beds and really stylish, totally private garden with soft lawn to lay on, private ocean access and beach shower. Swim to lunch. We are really well at Rokos where Nikos welcomed us every day and looked after us. We landed at Chania at 10am and we're swimming in the sea by 10.40! But feels like you could be anywhere, it's so secluded and quiet. Nets on all the windows meant we could sleep with all the windows open at ease with the sea breeze blowing through. Breakfast on the balcony where you can watch the sunrise with uninterrupted views. Just be prepared if you are staying, the mini markets are up the hill in Sternes so don't forget to stop for supplies before you drive down the mountain. We hired bikes, which was fun, but a bit too hot for family riding. If you're hard core and can endure the hills, Lion Rentals drop off road bikes to the house for you for around 25 euro a day. A really really special start to our annual trip to Crete. Am booking for next year. Many thanks Alexandra!!

Incredible location…we felt so spoiled having the convenience of stepping out of our large covered deck at Casa Marathi into the beautiful calm sea. Hosts were wonderful and own the closest restaurant (Rokos) on the beach. They will also deliver fresh cooked food to your place if requested! The beach bungalow was tastefully decorated and very clean. Several other restaurants within walking distance as well. We didn’t want to leave and would love to come back and stay again.

שהייתנו בבית במארטי היתה פנטזיה בהתגשמותה ! הבית המדהים נמצא מטרים ספורים מחוף הים המשגע, למעשה בנוי על הסלעים הנושקים למים. הנוף הנפלא נשקף מכל חלון ודלת ורחש הגלים המרגיע ממלא את היום והלילה. כריסה, בעלת הבית והמסעדה שבחוף היתה מארחת מעולה, זמינה, לבבית, חמה וסייעה בכל דבר, עצה או עניין שנזקקנו לו. הבית נקי להפליא, מעוצב בצורה מקסימה ומספק כל שנדרש. מסעדת ״רוקוס״ שבחוף קרובה ביותר ומומלצת בחום רב ! למעשה החופשה כולה יכולה להתמצות בשהייה בבית, בחוף הצמוד, ובמסעדה שבו, אין צורך בדבר נוסף..... אין ספק, אנו נשוב לבית במארטי בהזדמנות הראשונה. חופשה בלתי נשכחת !

Sehr schöne und gut ausgestattete Wohnung. Ab und zu kurven NATO-Flugzeuge über die Bucht. Der Flughafen der NATO liegt oberhalb der Bucht. Uns hat haben die Flieger nicht gestört. Im Juni ist man noch eine der wenigen Touristen im Ort.

Stunning location with the beach on your doorstep and mountain views in the distance. We visited in early May and so the place was very quiet during the week with only one taverna open in the evening. This suited us fine as we enjoyed having the peace and quiet. It was much busier at the weekend. The outdoor space was a lovely place to relax in the evening. The kitchen is, however, very small and so is only really suitable for preparing very simple meals. Alex was a great host and quickly sorted out a minor issue with the internet. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider returning.

Words cannot fully describe what a wonderful location this home truly is. In marketing as the saying goes, it’s all about “location, location, location.” House was spotless and clean, and Alexandra was without a doubt a SUPERHOST. Chania was within 15-20 minutes drive, coffee shops within 5-10 minute drive. The beach restaurants were only open on the weekend due to time of year we went but was hopping with activity. We look forward to visiting again soon. If your super adventurous than take a drive to Balo Lagoons, about 1hour 45 minute drive.

Amazing studio apartment with direct access from the garden to the sea. An short drive from the airport down a steep hill, you will need a car as there is no local shop in Marathi. My flight was severely delayed arriving so we didn’t get there until much later than planned but there was someone there to let us in. We stayed for a week in this lovely apartment which had everything you could need in the kitchen. We ate out most evening there are a few lovely places in Marathi but was a dining table for two on the balcony so you could stay in if you wanted. The staff at Rokos were always on hand if we needed anything would definitely stay again.

Soggiorno fantastic. La più bella casa vacanza in cui sia mai stata! Appena ristrutturata, pulitissima, dotata di ogni confort. Posizione comoda in quanto vicino a Chania e di strada per le spiagge più belle di Creta. Alexandra gentilissima e disponibile; ci ha organizzato una gita con il taxi boat, prenotato i gommoni e i ristoranti. Veramente tutto perfetto!

I appreciate a lot that you passed by at our place, even though was terribly raining that day! We had lovely chat together. All together we had beautiful summertime in Crete / Marathi. What a great location! Very friendly host; Chrysa and Yannis are warm and kind people. We had a one very hard rainy day, which made wifi modus broke, but Yannis fixed that immediately next day! The apartment is very clean, I think is one of the best cleaned house I “saw”on trips. House is very light and the view is stunning! See you again some other summer! We have travelled a lot as a family and this was, without doubt, one of the loveliest holiday properties we’ve ever rented. The flat itself is beautifully done and part of a house that is actually on the beach (the only house on the beach). To have your morning coffee and then step into the clear azure sea. It’s a stunning situation and unusually protected from developers. And the family who own the house are a delight. They run the taverna on the beach and serve fish they catch every day. A real haven. And wonderful value for what it is. Don’t tell everyone! A wonderful property with the most delightful owners who embraced us like family! Such a special place we almost don’t want to tell other people about it! But, of course, we will…The setting is hard to beat.
