Description

This property is truly one of a kind in the area of Apokoronas on western Crete.

Located between the seaside resort of Almyrida, and the traditional village of Plaka, the villa is situated right above the sea at the end of a small country road. There is complete privacy on this estate of 8000 m2 land, and the views are simply incredible. The area is peaceful and quiet, and the property is so near the sea that you can hear it.

The villa includes 7 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms (5 of which are en-suite), a guest WC, a large living room and dining room, a spacious kitchen, many balconies and terraces, and a private infinity pool of approximately 70 m2. The lovely garden includes a lawn of 300 m2, and there is parking on the property for 4-6 cars.

West wing: The ground floor includes the main entrance, the guest WC, 1 double bedroom with bed size 180×200, a private bathroom with shower, and a shared terrace with the main entrance area. In addition, on this floor is the living room (with fireplace) leading to the dining room and kitchen located in the east wing. The living room also accesses a balcony with sea views and the pergola covered outdoor lounge with beautiful views which leads to the pool and garden area.

The first floor includes 1 double bedroom with bed size 180×200, a private bathroom with shower, and a balcony with sea views (which is also accessed by the hallway), and access to the south courtyard. Furthermore, there is a triple bedroom with 1 bed size 180×200, and a single bed size 90×190 and a balcony with sea views, as well as a twin bedroom with 2 single beds size 90×200. These 2 bedrooms share a bathroom with shower which also includes 1 of the 2 washing machines provided.

East wing: The ground floor includes the spacious kitchen fitted with 2 sinks, 2 dishwashers, a wine-fridge, and a pantry; the large dining room (with fireplace) which seats 14, and access to the pergola covered outdoor lounge. In addition, a hallway off the kitchen leads to the outdoor dining area with BBQ, as well as 1 double bedroom with bed size 180×200 and private bathroom with shower and where the 2nd washing machine is located. This bedroom has large sliding doors leading to a covered terrace next to the outdoor dining area.

The first floor includes a double bedroom with bed size 180×200, a private bathroom with bathtub and shower, a wardrobe area, and a private balcony with sea views. Furthermore, there is a second bedroom with 2 twin beds size 90×190, a private bathroom with shower, and a balcony with sea views.

The villa is in impeccable condition and built to a high quality, with comfortable, lovely interiors and emphasis given to excellent new beds as well as new sun-beds, parasols, and other new furniture. In total, the living area of the villa is 400 m2 plus balconies and terraces (not including the basement).

All rooms have air-con units, and many of the rooms as well as the outdoor lounge are in addition equipped with ceiling fans.

Outdoors: A gated entrance leads to the parking area large enough for 4-6 cars is on the lower level of the property and includes a carport for 3 cars. From this level there is a path leading to the pool and lawn area, as well as a staircase leading to the main entrance on the ground floor level. This lower level also accesses the basement of the villa which is locked off and not included in the rental area.

The infinity pool and large lawn are located on the ground floor level and have exceptional views to the bay of Almyrida, Souda Bay, the open sea, the Akrotiri peninsula towards the north, and the magnificent White Mountains towards the west and south. On this level there is also the outdoor dining area and the outdoor pergola covered lounge.

The southern part of the property is undeveloped and closed off providing adequate distance from the nearest neighbor, Emerald, a small family run hotel. This hotel also has a small restaurant with very good food, and is only 90 meters from the villa. Apart from the hotel, the immediate vicinity includes private villas, and a few large apartments.

The house was plastered to resemble the plastering of old churches in Greece. It was made using river-sand from Santorini and over-watered to give a crazed effect. Eggs and yogurt were added to the plaster mix to encourage algae bloom which results in the old fashioned look.

Excellent experience in Crete. Everything about our stay in this beautiful villa was excellent. The views from the master bedroom were breath-taking from three different glass doors and balconies. The daytime view was of the sea and mountains and the night-time view was of the twinkling lights from across the sea. We also all enjoyed the views from the covered outdoor seating. There was plenty of room for our large party for board games, reading or just listening to music from the provided stereo. In the home, the host provided everything we could possibly desire in amenities or just small touches. The decor of the home was stylish but also functional; and everything was spotlessly clean. The kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked with plenty of things for use by our large party. There was a choice of outdoor or indoor seating for meals with plenty of room for everyone. The host was very helpful in arranging for transportation ( I recommend renting a car) and recommendations for restaurants and day tours. There were no problems with communication and the host was very professional and friendly. The Emerald next door is an excellent place to eat and enjoy the sea view. But I also highly recommend using the services of the cook. Sula is a delightful person and we loved her cooking. She also provided olive oil and honey that she grew and produced herself.

We were a group of 6 couples plus child and enjoyed our days at Villa Salacia to the fullest! The property description and pictures are a 100% accurate. Prior to the trip we got a lot and many useful tips from Alexandra who was always very swift in her replies. The villa’s interior is tastefully combining the old and new and very well equipped! The sundowns over the infinity pool turning everything into the deepest orange and pink will be a memory we won’t forget. The villa is in easy reach from the airport if you have a rental car and similarly practically located to visit many places if you’d like to go on a day-trip. Nevertheless, it definitely invites also to simply spend a day at the pool and in the garden and enjoy the scenic views. We didn’t want to go to a touristy or party area in Crete but instead stay somewhere where it’s more peaceful and relaxed and with Villa Salacia (and beginning of June) we got all we wished for. Thanks for the great stay!

Amazing holiday near Almyrida. The property is perfect for a large group. Fantastic space in the home with no one feeling cramped, tremendous pool and views from bedrooms and outdoor space, close to 2 villages with great restaurants, lots to do within reasonable drive. Ang opphold på Villa Salacia, august 2018. Tusen takk for et fantastisk opphold i «Villa Salacia»! Vi hadde en herlig uke og fylte villaen med nær familie i forbindelse med bryllupsfeiring. Reisefølget besto av familie fra 14 måneder til 82 år. Bilder og beskrivelse gir et riktig bilde av villaen. Den har meget høy standard utvendig og innvendig. Uteområdene og bassengfasiliteter fremheves spesielt! Vi hadde avtalt transport fra Chania flyplass med drosjer samt leiebil som vi hadde disponibel hele oppholdet. Vi hadde også avtalt innkjøp av matvarer, og vi kunne derfor innta villaen uten tanke på andre ting enn å nyte i fulle drag. Alle forhåndsavtaler fungerte prikkfritt. Kvelden etter ankomst hadde vi bestilt «Chef services». Tre veldig hyggelige og dyktige kokker gjorde kvelden til ett av høydepunktene under oppholdet. Vi foretok også en tur til sørkysten anbefalt av Alexandra. Å bade i grottene i Marmara var en spesiell opplevelse, og vi spiste en nydelig lunch samme sted. Det fantes flere tavernaer i gangavstand fra villaen, men vi laget også mat «hjemme». Kjøkkenet fungerte utmerket, og innkjøp ble foretatt både i Plaka eller på et større supermarked 20 minutters kjøretid unna. Hele turfølget var enige om at dette var en uforglemmelig uke. Vi kommer mer enn gjerne tilbake!
